Oxygen Barrier Rubber Technology

Having excellent chemical and thermal durability, OT oxygen barrier rubber is highly resistant to sunlight and ozone. Nevertheless, what makes the OT oxygen barrier most distinctive is air and water tightness. Its oxygen and steam transmission rates are only one-seventh, and one-two hundredth as much as that of the natural rubber.

1. Oxygen insulation

The dispersion rate of the oxygen in polymers depends on thermal activity of polymer molecules. As methyl on the side in molecular chains of OT oxygen barrier rubber is arrayed intensively, the thermal activity of polymer molecules are impeded, thus the oxygen transmission rate is low, and air-tightness excellent.

2. Thermal durability

OT oxygen barrier rubber is excellently heat resistant and durable, and it can be used for a long time in air under the temperature of 100℃. 

3. Energy absorption

As being free of double bonds in its molecular structure, and methyl on side chains is dispersed widely, OT oxygen barrier rubber is characterized by a high resistance to shock and impact, and its resilience is always below 20 percent in a wide temperature range (-30℃-50℃), which clearly indicates that OT rubber is better than other rubbers in its absorption of mechanical impact.

4. Low-temperature

The molecular chains of OT oxygen barrier rubber are structured spirally, and thus it has a great number of methyls. However, each pair of methyls located at both sides of spiral is arrayed at an angle, so the molecular chain of butyl rubber is still supple, its glass transition temperature is low and the elasticity is excellent.

5. Resistance to ozone and aging 

High saturation of molecular chain makes OT oxygen barrier rubber highly resistant to ozone, weathering and aging. OT oxygen barrier rubber is better than natural rubber, and is 10 times better than styrene-butadiene rubber in ozone resistance.

6. Chemical durability

High saturating structure makes OT oxygen barrier rubber highly chemical durable. OT oxygen barrier rubber has an excellent resistance to most of inorganic and organic acids. The strength and elongation of OT oxygen barrier rubber barely change after being immersed in 70% sulfuric acid for 13w. Compared to OT oxygen barrier rubber, natural rubber and styrene-butadiene rubber are seriously affected in strength and elongation. 

7. Water absorption

The water penetration rate of OT oxygen barrier rubber is extremely low. The water absorption rate of OT oxygen barrier rubber is only one tenth as much as that of natural rubber under normal temperature.

8. Drinking water standard

OT oxygen barrier rubber for drinking water meets rigorous standards, and is better than other rubbers in terms of oxygen consumption rate and precipitation rate of impurities.
